Robert P. Keenan, Great Bend attorney and former chairman of the Barton County Community College Board of Trustees, is the recipient of the 1993 Distinguished Service Award presented by the BCCC Foundation. The presentation was made at the association's sixth annual Hilltop Society Recognition Dinner on May 6.
Keenan has served on the college's board of trustees for 20 years - 14 of which as the board chairman. On June 30, Keenan will retire from the board. Keenan is a major participant in the Foundation's annual Academic Enrichment Fund campaign both as a volunteer and donor.
After receiving his law degree in 1949 from the University of Kansas Law School, Keenan opened his own law office in Great Bend. In 1956, he was joined by his brother Larry. Eighteen years later, the Keenan brothers, along with Hugh Mauch, formed a professional corporation in Great Bend.
Keenan and his wife, Dotty, were married in 1961 in Oklahoma. The couple now resides in Great Bend.
