1992 Jack Goodman

Jack D. Goodman, Great Bend, president and general manager of Midwest Energy in Hays, will receive the 1992 Barton County Community College Distinguished Service Award at the annual Hilltop Society Recognition Dinner hosted by the BCCC Foundation tonight.

Goodman was an original member of the college board of trustees from 1965 through 1967. During that period, he served on the site committee to determine the location of the community college. In 1967, Goodman became one of the incorporators of the BCCC Endowment Association. Along with other members, the group established bylaws and elected the association's first 30-member board of trustees. Since 1987, Midwest Energy has been one of the major corporate donors to the Foundation's Academic Enrichment Fund Campaign.

Goodman has done extensive work to promote economic development in central and western Kansas. His past affiliations include: Great Bend United Way Board of Directors, 1960-1963; Great Bend Chamber of Commerce Director, 1973-76 and President during 1975; Kansas Association of Commerce and Industry Director, 1973-76 and President in 1975; member of the Kansas Energy Advisory Council 1975-78; Great Bend Industrial Development Corporation Director 1959-90 and past president.

A member of the Great Bend Rotary Club and Congregational Church, Goodman and wife, Gayla, reside in Great Bend. They have one daughter, Juana, of Lawrence.
