The gallery's roots date back to 1981, when Mrs. Faerie Denman of Great Bend donated an extensive 507-piece art collection which she and her husband Cedric exchanged as anniversary gifts during their fifty-one years of marriage. The collection demanded proper storage and the means through which Barton could share the artwork with the community. Through the ongoing support of donors, the collection has grown to over 800 works of art.
