The
commander plaques are to memorialize and thank businesses, organizations,
and individuals who have donated to make the B-29 Memorial a reality.
There will be a star after the name for donations made in memory of deceased
persons. The star is symbolic of the gold stars placed over the blue stars
families displayed in windows when they had a son killed in action.
The levels of donations are based on the command structure of the Twentieth
Air Force during World War II. The commander plaques will be made of bronze
and located at the entrance of the memorial. They will be 30"x 45"
with two stars and the level of the command in the center. The size of
the letters will increase size as the rank increases.
