The B-29 Memorial Committee anticipates an unveiling and completion of the Memorial in May 2001.  Artist Terry Hinde of Julesburg, Colorado is presently constructing the stainless steel B-29 model.  The B-29 fuselage is complete and Hinde is currently working on the windows, gun turrets, propellers and other details.  Marion Lightfoot visited Hinde's studio last November and was very impressed with the quality of Hinde's work.  Marion said, "The model is truly a work of art." The model even passed the close inspection of Boeing B-29 engineer, Kermit Thompson.  Kermit said he was pleasantly surprised at the artist's attention to detail.  Hinde's studio has become a busy location veterans, who often stop to check his progress and give him advice. Hinde plans to present the B-29 model, with an open house, in Julesburg early in May.  The model will then be shipped to Great Bend for placement at the B-29 Memorial.  An unveiling celebration is planned for Memorial Day weekend at the B-29 Memorial at the Great Bend Municipal Airport.
