The construction phase for the B-29 Memorial Plaza is complete.   The earthwork, grading and site preparation were completed January 21, 2000.

Chuck Bartlett, Great Bend City Engineer, put the concrete construction project out for bids on January 25, 2000.  Sealed bids were opened February 15, 2000 at City Hall.  Great Bend City Council ruled on placing the contract on February 21, and the contracts were let by March 1, 2000.

Preparation was completed for issuing Purchase Orders for the bronze plaques, the sign lettering, the dedication bricks and the filler bricks.  We started placing these P.O.'s by Mid-February. All phases of the project seem ready.  We moved forward with the construction of the Plaza, and were finished by early June.
