Trevor Rolfs has been hired as the new athletic director at Barton Community College taking over full-time in a position that was part-time the past two years. Barton men’s basketball coach Craig Fletchall had held the position for two years along with his basketball duties but will now just coach while Rolfs takes over the department. MORE
The Barton Community College Sports Hall of Fame will grow by five this year with the inductions of Tom Curtis, Trish (Gadberry) Wade, George Donley and Jim and Jo Ann Heaton. Those five will be inducted as the Class of 2011 during a 3 pm induction ceremony Saturday February 26 at the Student Union on the campus of Barton. MORE
The Barton Community College athletic teams finished 10th in the annual NATYCAA Cup, presented every year for combined excellence for 2-year schools in athletics. NATYCAA – the National Alliance of Two Year College Athletics Administrators – has presented the cup since 2004. The award was called the Pepsi Cup for several years prior to its name change to the NATYCAA Cup in 2004. Barton earned 83.5 points toward the Cup during the 2009-10 sports year to place 10th in the competition. Iowa Central won the Cup with 158.5 points. MORE
